Peer Educators

"Peer Educators are highly motivated students wishing to make a difference in their community by educating other students about the importance of responsible decision making in regards to teen pregnancy prevention. They facilitate discussions and illustrate points through group activities, skits, videos, music and games rather than lecture. Learning as they teach and teaching as they learn is what makes CAPP's Peer Education Program unique as well as effective in communicating with teens important issues of today." Ericka, age 18.

THINK, Teaching Health Issues Now in Kentucky, is a peer education contract sponsored by the Louisville Metro Health Department.

THINK Members

THINK Peer Educators are specially trained high school students who work to encourage other young people toward healthy behaviors. They facilitate discussions and illustrate points through group activities, skits, videos, music and games rather than lecture. Peer Educators are chosen based on their ability to speak comfortably, energetically, and accurately in front of groups. Service as a Peer Educator can count towards required community service hours. Employment opportunities may be presented to some students.

THINK Workshops

Programs are presented any time outside school hours—late afternoons, evenings, weekends, and during summer vacation. Based on availability, adult speakers can present to school groups during the regular school day.

To Schedule a THINK presentation with the THINK Peer Educators, contact the Peer

Education Coordinator of CAPP at 587-5001. Presentations can and will be geared toward any age group and cover a range of topics.
